My final for CG 201! A great big fantasy race track! I don’t usually do environments, or backgrounds at all, so I really wanted to try my hand at it. Bubble tea trees, big mushrooms, ice cream mountains and silly racers. Kirby Air Ride and various Kirby concept art were the biggest inspirations for this.
My icy warrior woman. The main inspiration for her was actually the Lich King from World of Warcraft. I had to give her fabulous lashes.
Here is the progress of one of our in-class assignments. I’m pretty much done with the grayscale. Up next are some color comps (and then onto final color!)
She’s a warrior lady. I wanted a tough looking lady, covered in armor. I’ve never really drawn armor in detail so this was a challenge. But I also wanted her to look fierce, and very fab. And in bloody snow!
Here are my film studies in color! Good luck figuring them all out. For CG 201.
Here’s my ‘Paper Doll’ character for CG 201. She was originally from a figure drawing sketch (where the woman was holding a stick) and our assignment is to make a character out of it. We needed to make a grayscale painting of their body before we start putting on different costume ideas (that’s why she’s a paper doll!)
I’m thinking of making her into a warrior, holding down a large sword. I want to make her armor sleek, but functional. I want to stay away from sexualizing it.
The last of the self portraits for CG 201 in grayscale. This one has upper head lighting.
For CG 201, we had an ongoing project where we speed painted screencaps from movies. My first ones (and most of them) look pretty silly. The screencaps I painted are from: Thor, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Kill Bill Vol. 1, Kill Bill Vol. 2, Coraline, Watchmen, and Sucker Punch.
Another self portrait for CG 201. We had to use monster lighting in this one! It’s less messy than my other one.
Self portrait for CG 201. Digital and traditional, I seem to only draw really messy! Maybe I’m just impatient.
